Summer Camp 2016

This year's Summer Camp will be held at Longridge from Saturday 30 July to Saturday 6 August. We will be camping on sites 19 to 21 by the sailing jetty. The cost is only £220 per Explorer. This includes transport, site fees, food, all activities and a DVD of your adventure after we get back! We appreciate that some of you may have been to Longridge before but most of you have never been there on an Explorer Camp where you get to choose the activities you want to do; and chill out and watch the ones you donít.

Longridge is ideally situated on the banks of the River Thames just below Marlow - one of the most beautiful and sought after parts of the Thames Valley. Activities available onsite include: climbing, crate stacking, dragon boating, giant swing, jacobís ladder, kayaking, laser tag (new), leap of faith, open canoeing, power boating, rowing, sailing, sculling, water orbs, weir trips and much more. Other facilities onsite include The Ridge Cafť and free Wi-Fi. Activities available offsite include: swimming at Coral Reef and whitewater rafting at Lee Valley. We will be cooking centrally for you and will of course be hosting our annual banquet again!

Due to the large size of the Unit and the limited space of the site, places are limited. A non-returnable deposit of £25 per Explorer Scout must be paid by Monday 29 February. The remaining balance of £195 (£220 total) must be paid by Monday 27 June or your place will be offered to another Explorer. You may pay by instalments if you prefer to spread the cost. You must be under 18 on 30 July to attend.

Longridge

Set in a unique riverside location near Marlow, Buckinghamshire, Longridge provides a range of exciting water sports and land-based activities aimed at young people of all abilities. As well as 12 acres of beautiful water meadows we have our own island, 'Taylor Island' for the ultimate swallows and amazons experience. Taylor island also gives us a sheltered backwater in which young people can experience the river with confidence.

Helping young people grow as individuals through outdoor activities and adventure

85,000 young people will visit our world-class facilities this year and Longridge boasts a proud 50 year history and an excellent safety record. Our visitors range from schools and youth groups to individuals and corporate clients not to mention the Womenís Olympic Rowing Team and GB Kayaking Teams.

Longridge is run by a team of enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers and paid staff. We are approved by the BCU (British Canoe Union), RYA (Royal Yacht Association) and British Rowing. As well as AALA, Bucks County Council, Duke of Edinburgh Award and we are a recognised Olympic Training Centre. Each year we run a large number of courses ranging from beginner skills right through to advanced coaching and instruction.

We have a range of facilities including well equipped accommodation for all needs, from camping to bunk house accommodation and indoor meeting, conference and training spaces.
